“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.”

— Brené Brown

Let’s admit it, life can be hard! It can feel overwhelming to manage the endless to-do list. Do you want to work on organizational skills, practice navigating difficult conversations, or regulating strong emotions? I am here to help empower you to make the necessary changes to feel successful, breathe a little easier, and enjoy life again.

Hi, I am Jennifer Ami (she/her). I am a licensed clinical social worker specializing in individual adult psychotherapy with an emphasis on trauma-informed care, EMDR trained. I help ANXIOUS, DISTRACTED and SCATTERED individuals rewire unhelpful thought patterns and develop new, healthy behaviors so they can show up in meaningful ways in both their personal and professional lives.

If you are ready to take that first step towards starting your therapeutic journey, please reach out to see how we can work together. I am happy to offer a FREE 15-minute consultation to see if we are a good fit.

About Me

  • I have over a decade of clinical experience working in a variety of settings including outpatient community clinics, crisis intervention, residential treatment facilities, school settings and non-profit organizations.

I graduated from Tulane University’s School of Social Work in 2011 with a Master Degree in Social Work with a certificate in Disaster Mental Health.

I spent a decade learning and working in the multicultural, Greater New Orleans area. I was excited to bring my diverse work experiences to a new area when I transitioned to Southwest living in Arizona in 2021.

  • I take an eclectic approach to treatment, attempting to emotionally meet my clients where they are on their life journey, while providing unconditional positive regard, validation, and genuineness to create a safe and secure space primed for working through and healing from past traumas, attachment wounds and navigating responses to life transitions that interfere with daily living. I strive to balance both compassionate support and at times directive feedback to help my clients achieve agreed upon goals and increase motivation to work through various blockages preventing them from living their life worth living.

I believe mental wellness requires a holistic perspective with psychotherapy being a major piece in helping achieve one’s full potential. Research shows that the therapeutic relationship is the driving force in positive therapeutic outcomes. I encourage open dialogue throughout the process with my clients to customize the treatment to best meet individual needs drawing from various evidenced based therapies and therapeutic approaches.

  • I'm strongly committed to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion. I actively work towards examining my own privileges and bias, so I can be a better ally in dismantling oppressive systems and working towards social justice and equality for all. I am not perfect, and I do not have all the answers, but I strive to provide culturally sensitive therapeutic care. I try to be open and aware to my clients' experiences, with the hopes of removing the power dynamics that can come into play in any therapeutic relationship. I believe good therapy requires a strong therapeutic alliance and an equal balance of power. I acknowledge my clients are the experts in their own lives and it is a privilege to support any client on his, her or their journey.
